Donkey Punch Review

Donkey Punch is like eating at a good restaurant then getting punched in the gut by the manager. It's a decent film with good sequences, but falls off the planet in the end.

My rating: 2.5 Stars

This movie reminded me of a roller coaster ride, and not in a good way. I was intrigued by the premise, I will talk about that in a minute. However the ups and downs of this movie were very disappointing, ups and Downs as in the movie starts out slow then it gets interesting, but then it Donkey Punches you right in the face and you feel like you just wasted a good hour and a half of your life for nothing.

So what is a donkey punch? I have heard of some very disturbed and despicable sexual acts that are designed to humiliate or deface women. Of course only “men” with no respect for anyone even themselves would ever even think about these acts, let alone do them, even still there are these low-lives out there that do these horrible things. I won’t get in to them, but I’m afraid that I should at least describe what a donkey punch is. Maybe this would give you an idea of some of the other lowbrow acts.

A donkey punch starts out with a couple engaging in “doggie-style” sex and just about when the man is about to climax, he or someone else punches the girl in the head or the back of the neck, therefore knocking her out unconscious. The idea is that the sudden impact to the head or neck will cause involuntary muscle spasms in the area being stimulated that it would give the man intense pleasure. What’s in it for the girl? The men that would do such a thing will not even understand that question.

I have read about this on Wikipedia and I hear that it is a dangerous practice. People have died because of it. I have also heard that it does not even work, that it is a big lie and that there are no muscle spasms at all. The shit that people come up with is unbelievable sometimes.

This movie was not really about that, it was about three girls that were partying and met four guys who were doing the same. They were in a strange country and they just wanted to have a good time. I am sure the boys did too. They were not necessarily bad kids, things just got out of hand.

The beginning of the movie was very, very slow. There was a lot of drug use and a lot of sex. After hearing about the stupid donkey punch story, one of the guys thought it would be cool to try it out. That is when things took really wrong turn.

At this point the movie became very interesting. It reminded me a lot of Dead Calm. These kids are on a boat and it is the girls versus the boys. One of the girls had died by “accident”, but the boys were scared so they decide to get rid of the body. This did not sit well with the girls as you can imagine. The movie becomes a really intense thriller for a while. There is a constant back and forth with the girls trying to escape and watching these guys trying to come up with a plan and changing it all the time as things go wrong. It is quite the thriller for about 40 minutes.

Then the film takes a turn on Hokey Street and gets lost. At least it lost my interest. This wasn’t a unique film, but it was at times attention-grabbing. It was working for me for a while until they decided to go back to your ordinary, already done thriller crap. I was very disappointed in the end of this movie especially since they had caught my attention and gripped it so well throughout most of the film.

The acting in this film is pretty decent for a B-Movie. It wasn’t a horrible film. I just didn’t care for the beginning or the end. The middle however, was pretty decent. About the donkey punch, well, that was just a gimmick that I think they should’ve done without. They didn’t need it, but I guess it worked well for a good shock item. The thing however is that, it had nothing else to do with the movie. They should’ve found a better name for this film.
