The Review It 2009 Project

In the attempt to make my own life miserable, I have taken on a very unnecessary challenge to prove to myself that I can in fact set goals and attain them. In the process, I hope to improve on my writing skills and hopefully stimulate my intellect or if all else fails, waste my time for a few hours each week for a month or two.

I started doing this just for fun, but some of you have been reading my reviews and commenting on them so I decided to go ahead and give it a real shot. I’ll welcome any comments, ideas or rants. Just don’t bug me too much. I got movies to watch! :) Just kidding. I like reading your takes and comments.

The challenge: To watch at least 90% of the movies released in the US market theaters in 2009. Wikipedia has a list of all of these movies you can check out the list at Wikipedia 2009 Film List. However, to keep it simple I will be working on the list that was available to me on September 21, 2009. Since Wikipedia changes a lot, I may or may not go back and see if new movies had been added. So I may or may not update the list if Wikipedia updates theirs.

As of today there are 256 movies both as wide and limited release. I plan on watching at least 90% of them, that’s about 230 movies. This will at least give me some freedom to not watch something I know I will just hurl nonstop throughout the film, for example the “Jonas Brothers” movie or that new Twilight movie. It’s going to be tough. However, I think it’ll be something I’ll enjoy doing.

I will not be setting a time goal. Why? Well, I do not plan on watching all of these movies in the theater. That would cost me a fortune. So I plan to wait for some of them to come out on video. So since DVD releases are not very predictable I can’t set a time goal.

Other than no time goal, if the movie is in the list below, there’s a 90% chance I’ll see it. I will be watching some of these when they are released in theaters, but mostly I will wait for the DVD. My other goal is to try and watch them in the order they were released. Again, this is difficult because DVD’s aren’t released in the same order they were released in the theaters. I’ll do the best I can.

For now, I will be putting my reviews on Facebook Notes. However, if all goes well, I’ll be creating a Blog elsewhere and doing my updates there. I’ll update my Facebook when I do.

I must warn you, there will be times when a film might entice my emotions to the point that it’ll makes me angry. When I’m angry I express myself harshly and explicitly. I’ll try to keep the language to a bare minimum and if I do go hog wild I’ll warn you first. I might even create a separate cleaner review just for you guys that don’t like the language.

I’m doing this mainly for my own benefit. But I hope that those of you who read on get some entertainment out of it. I hope you enjoy my comments.
